Had on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a Willi pint, relatively clear and copper red in color with a thin, broken layer of suds spread across the surface. Lacing good amount of lacing, with thin but consistent webbing decorating much of the glass.
Smell - Toasted malts, light sweetness, hints of floral hoppiness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Toasty malt base with a hint of toffee sweetness. Hops add some floral, spice and lesser citrus notes. Balanced finish, with a bit of that sweetness and a slight grassy bitterness lingering in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with fair carbonation. Slick, smooth drinker with an easy finish.
Overall - Solid red. Good flavor and drinks nicely. Almost has a bit of brown ale influence with that malt sweetness, but I dig it.
