Had on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a Willi pint, crystal clear and purely golden in color with a mostly barren surface and a thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass. A few small patches make up the lacing.
Smell - Dank aroma, with a hint of stonefruit pit.
Taste - Follows the nose. Mild-to-moderate dankness with a touch of grapefruit and stonefruit. Light, slightly toasty malt backbone. Finish continues on with the mild dank and touch of fruitiness.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair carbonation. Slick, slightly velvety texture makes this an easy drinker before a crisp, slightly dry finish.
Overall - Solid beer. Well made, but Simcoe and Nugget are notorious for their dank and earthy characteristics, and that's never been one of my favorite qualities found in hops. Thankfully the dankness isn't too overpowering.
