Appearance - Pours hazy and muted orange in color with an off-white, half finger width head which devolves quickly, leaving behind a mostly barren surface with a fair ring of suds encircling the edge of the glass. Nothing for lacing, save a spot or three.
Smell - Tart aroma, with the pink guava really taking hold. Lesser vanilla and a hint of cream.
Taste - Follows the nose. tart and creamy. Pink guava stands out upfront and throughout, with a hint of pomegranate adding a slight tang as well. Cream and vanilla sweetness adds to the mix by mid-taste, giving way to a finish that finds the vanilla and pink guava playing nicely off each other. Aftertaste lingers mostly with a faint tropical tartness.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Smooth, slightly creamy body with a nice, easy finish.
Overall - They're calling this a sour Double IPA, though it has a lot of characteristics found in a milkshake IPA. More of a hybrid, really. Delicious regardless the classification. Happy 4 years, Claimstake, and here's to many more to come!
