Had on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a willi pint, hazy and orange in color. Barren surface. No lacing.
Smell - Spice from the green hatch chiles hit the nose first, along with that corn undertone. Faint trace of floral character.
Taste - Follows the nose. Green hatch chile and some masa corn make up most of the flavor. Heat hits mid-taste and builds, leaving a spicy aftertaste that builds sip after sip.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with low carbonation. Slick, slightly creamy body makes this a smooth, easy drinker.
Overall - There are very few cream ales I've had that I've enjoyed, but this is excellent. Cream of the crop, if you'll excuse the pun.
