From tasting notes 3/25/21
Had on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up In a 10oz snifter, slight haze and golden orange in color. Island of suds in the center of the glass with a thin ring around the edges. Strong lacing, with thick sheeting covering a good part of the glass, devolving to broken lines and spotting at the sipping point.
Smell - Strong pineapple on the nose, with lesser tangerine, grapefruit, pine and a hint of booze.
Taste - Follows the nose. Pineapple upfront, met quickly by notes of tangerine, grapefruit, dank pine and melon. Hints of bread found beneath. Mid-taste brings candied orange sweetness which rises to the top and is the prominent character through the aftertaste, though lesser notes of the former definitely ride beneath.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Touch of stickiness in there, but quite smooth given the strength of the brew. Dangerously slick, easy finish.
Overall - A triple IPL? Never had an IPL I thought was amazing, until now. Flavor wise, it has all the elements of a top notch 3xIPA, with the relative ease of drink of an imperial lager. Yeah, this brew rocks.
