From tasting notes 12/14/22
Had on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a can shaped glads, near black with deep, dark ruby where light can penetrate. Tan, thin broken layer of suds across the surface, forming a thin, consistent circle around the outer edge. Lacing is good, with broken webbing, lines and small spotting.
Smell - Light smoke and roast with a hint of chocolate, while hops lay beneath with citrus and maybe some earth?
Taste - Starts with some light smoke and toast with a kiss of chocolate, while bright orange & tangerine hops ride along. Hint of pine. Finish adds a trace of berry tartness.
Mouthfeel - Medium -bodied with fair carbonation. Slick, easy drinker before a fairly dry finish. 4
Overall - Interesting Black DIPA. Smokiness adds some uniqueness, though at the expense of masking some of the other flavors present. Overall, tasty, though maybe not something I could drink more than a pint of at a time.
