I live a ten minute walk to trillium brewery, who arguably has mastered the hazey American ipa style. This beer is similar to their beers, but less medicinal, and a bit more fruity. Very happy I picked this one up.

look: two finger sudsy white head with good retention, beer is a super merky dense orange/amber colour, no light bleeding through, fair bit of sediment.
smell: super fruity, lemon and orange and grapefruit and mango, lot of pineapple actually, pretty dank, nicely sweet, bit of caramel, rather floral.
taste: super duper juicy, orange, pineapple, mango, grapefruit, orange pith, lemon, lime, quite sweet, dank, quite floral, light bitterness on the finish, sweet fruits linger, very solid stuff.
feel: medium bodied, medium carbonation, super smooth and drinkable, oily, hides it’s strength near totally.
overall: another tasty, mellow, super drinkable ipa from whiplash, pretty good stuff.

Got this one from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 440ml can into a pint glass
Best before 25 March 2019
Ingredients: Marris Otter, Wheat Malt, Oat Malt, Citra
APPEARANCE: Pours out hazy and yields a 1 finger, medium looking, fluffy white head with good retention. Very opaque and hazy amber yellow in color with no carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a half wisp and ring. Faint wisp remains leaving no real lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Citra hops or sure, lemon notes, pineapple and citrus aromas, with some mango and melon as well. Really fruity. Some light caramel and a hint of oat aroma in there as well. Nice.
TASTE: Citrus flavors with lemon and orange peel, as well as some melon and mango sweetness and pineapple up front. Fruity with some alcohol too. Some booze at the swallow, moving into a finish of melon and mango sweetness, pineapple, lemon, and some light bitterness that lingers on the palate. Tropical and citrus flavors with a bed of alcohol on this one.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth with a bit of a bite and finishes slightly dry. Some alcohol lingers.
OVERALL: This is a boozier DIPA for sure, but the tropical and citrus character is definitely there. Enjoyed this one from start to finish. Definitely worth trying if you see it, and if I come across other Whiplash beers, I’ll be diving in head first. Cheers!

CAN
Hazy goldenrod with a finger of white. 4
Oily lemon rind + a pile of dank. 4.25
Touch of Carr’s, blast of candied grapefruit, some cat, honeydew rind, mint leaf, slight kiwi, and grass. 4.25
Ringing oily linger.
Soft, almost medium, round. 4.25
Citra
So the trick here is keeping any of the delicate Citra qualities at DIPA strength. And while it never gets mango, it doesn’t get pissy either. Add Vermont-esque smoothness and you’ve got another classic Whiplash. 4.25
