CAN
Milky tan with rimming, snow white head; pineapple, Lemonhedz, and herb oil nose; lemon chiffon, casaba melon, passionfruit, donut peach, slight ganga, grass; silky, salty and light.
4 4 4.25 4.25 4.25
COLUMBUS, SIMCOE, BRU-1, SULTANA, LEMONDROP
12/12 expiry - assuming six month lifespan, that makes this 2 weeks or so in the can.
It’s ironic that, unlike most Whiplash beers, the hops are not listed on the can - maybe because it’s a collab with Barcelona’s Garage? - since the hop bill maps pretty well to the taste. There’s Simcoe’s tart tropical side, BRU-1 pineapple, Sultana mild dank, and Lemondrop candied citrus. They all make for a NEIPA that’s almost too juicy and sweet - I was wishing for some pine or IBUs to clean things up. The only thing that really cuts through it is the salty water chemistry.
What jumps out most, though, is how fluttery, smooth, and burn-free the body is. This drinks like a 5.5% APA. That’s not always a good thing - I feel like if it wasn’t so quaffable, it wouldn’t come so close to cloying.
Fruity + crushable, almost too much of a good thing.
