CAN
Pocked tower of tan foam over ruby-brown; copper penny, raisins + cola on the nose; bready malts, touch of dark caramel, big cocoa hit, and coffee end; clean, light, dry.
4 4 3.75 4 3.75
Nice richness to it - all Munich as the base malt will do that. But with the Chocolate malt is almost too much: getting kinda porter-ish with all the dark fruit + cocoa. And where’s the roast? Dead smooth + drinks easy like a lager, but not very on style.
Call it a Munich Dunkel + I’d score it over 4.

look: such a nice looking beer, two finger off white head with very good retention, beer is a dark but reasonably clear chestnut colour, good levels of carbonation in the beer.
smell: a very nice smelling lager, chocolate, black bread, hint of treacle and molasses, kvass, dark fruit, prune and plum, but also biscuit and caramel, lightly floral, inviting.
taste: quite a nice beer, lovely malt character, pumpernickel bread, chocolate, treacle, caramel, espresso, tobacco, lots of dark fruit flavour, nicely sweet as a result, very light bitterness on the finish, good stuff.
feel: light bodied, light to medium carb, very smooth and quaffable, would like it to be a bit richer though.
overall: my first schwarzbier, and it’s a good one, i know the beer style description on BA describes it as a winter beer, but i could definitely knock a few cold ones of these back on a hot summers day, good beer.
