CAN
Deep chestnut with a ribbon of vanilla creme foam; caramelized sugar, banana + golden raisin nose with a touch of winter spice; thick honey, sultana, fig, mild spice; chewy + soft.

So there are dates in this, and if I had to guess, I’d say medjool dates, because there’s a ton of sugar. That kinda fits the style; standing in for candy sugar.
Where it falls down is with everything else: carb too low, no phenols, and for a brewery that lists all the ingredients on the label, it weirdly mentions no hops.
There’s no heat, at least, which is good because 8.3% is way too high for a dubbel.
An idiosyncratic but ultimately dull take on a classic style.

quite a nice belgian style strong ale from whiplash here, quite boozy, lot of alcohol warming, nice dark malt character, lot of belgian yeast flavour, lot of dark fruits, plum and fig, quite sweet, very drinkable all the same, good stuff
