CAN
Milky saffron with a steady crust of pure white; pineapple, lime zest + diesel on the nose; oatcakes, orange-ginger sauce, peach, peppery end, lingering menthol finish; soft, clean, smooth.
4 4 4.5 4 4.25
Vic Secret, Motueka
Damn, Whiplash is working the Vic Secret lately. This is the most ginger + pepper I’ve ever gotten off of it, which blends nicely with the signature Motueka lime in a Thai food kind of way.
But there’s a second layer of flavour where the oily mint character of VS picks up the botanical basil undertones of the Kiwi hop.
A bright, piquant beer that manages to be neither juicy nor tropical.
Leave it to Whiplash to find something new in the hackneyed NEIPA scene. Only that extra whiff of booziness keeps this from perfect.
Some next level hop game.
