CAN
Hazy pale sunshine with a crusty cap of white; vague tangerine nose; dried pineapple, underripe tangerine, peaches, pine hit to end; bitter, soft, smooth.

Sultana, Amarillo
There’s not much doing on the nose so I wasn’t excited for this one.
And the taste starts as a toned down citrus-and-tropical hit, until a wave of evergreen pushes this in a totally different direction.
Sultana/Denali/Nuggetzilla/whatever is, outside the pineapple, far more like an old school C hop than most other trendy new varieties, so this ends up not so far from a West Coast IPA, or at least a modern hazy.
It’s still a little light + underpowered for a full 6.6% IPA, but that also makes it all the more drinkable. And little bits of flower + orchard fruit poke out as it opens to give it depth.
Not Whiplash’s best by some measure, but among their most approachable.

after my long whiplash hiatus, it was only fitting that i had two in the same night. this one is quite nice; a real dank one. lovely aroma, dank, juicy, resinous, hint of pine, floral, some sweet tropical fruits, taste is super dank, super floral, resin and pine, floral, nice sweet pineapple and mango, medium to high bitterness, medium bodied, light to medium carbonation, super smooth body, a nice mellow ipa, more good stuff from whiplash (my 30th beer of there’s, goodness gracious)
