Bright gold with a tower of white foam + steady trailers of bubbles; lemon zest, canary melon, ganga + mint on the nose; slight crackery grain, a blast of tangerine, some apricot, cantaloupe, mild spice + bit of dank; clean and soft.

Finback joining the party seems to throw a veil of secrecy on things because Whiplash’s usual hop listing on the label is absent. That’s a shame because there’s some orange Winegums meets peach sorbet meets spliff alchemy going on here - I’d love to put names to the cones involved.
Finback are no slouches when it comes to hops, so meeting Whiplash was bound to be a happy marriage.
The trouble is they made a pils. While there’s some sneaky IBU scratch that builds on the finish, overall it’s lacking the bitterness, the dry lager snap, and the lightness of body of the style.
You could tell me it’s a session pale and I wouldn’t have doubted you.
Why get two NEIPA masters to make a lager? Just play the hits.
