an idiosyncratic dubbel, super fruity, but without an emphasis the banana-y flavours, also not a lot of clove or spice to it, but it’s really good, brown bread malt, the prefect level of sweetness, apple, pear, lemon, cherry, honey, medium bodied with medium carbonation also, a lovely beer to drink, unique and highly enjoyable, one of whiplash’s all time greats

Tawny chestnut with stiff sepia foam; brown sugar, pears + Canada Mints on the nose; boule crust, Medjool dates, marshmallows, baked apples, and pepper; fizzy, smooth, light to medium.

Pear + ginger cake!
Funny one: it's missing the usual phenol-ester interplay - no clove or plum - instead opting for complex malt flavours. That's probably because it *is* a complex malt bill - Special B + Aromatic, rather than the Trappist Pils and sugar syrup method. These come across quite melonoidin-y, and with lots of intricate dessert flavours that make it seem sweeter than it is.
And yet, it's quite dry, none of the fruit is outrageous, so it ends up... on style? Maybe a bit low carb, but that's splitting hairs.
An easy-sipping, hold-your-interest, slightly off kilter take on a classic, but a classic just the same.
The first Whiplash trad style that could actually win a BJCP medal.
