Viscous motor oil black with a tight can of purple-tinged tan froth that fades fast; soy sauce, licorice, blackberry and grilled steak crust on the nose; fig jam, chocolate cake, molasses, blackcurrants, slight ash + pine tar; heavy, oily, smooth, chewy.

Fascinating in both presentation and experience because it’s, by any reasonable measure, not an RIS but an imperial *Baltic* stout.
All of the usual char, espresso and dark chocolate notes are missing, replaced by dark fruit, anise, and a deep cocoa, bitter-free that you feel more than taste. And if you’re looking for the classic Baltic signifier, yep, there are plenty of plums up top.
This is wrapped in a body that redefines oily, with a silky feel and cakey texture that makes each bite dessert. You could eat this with a fork.
Only a bit of heat slows this down (and the first hints of soy autolysis) and that’s with time to settle. Otherwise, this is expertly executed, eminently sippable, and different than any imperial I’ve had before.
Puhaste bring the Baltic for perhaps Whiplash’s best stout.

De OkassionalBeer. En copa Teku. Viendo Iron Fist 1x07-08. Con pistachos. Imperial stout sin adjuntos muy bien hecha, con un delicioso perfil tostado y un marcado amargor muy bien integrado. Deja con ganas de mas. Mucha espuma en primer servicio, pero no se siente sobre carbonatada
