This Double IPA pours a hazy pale gold with a silky white foam. It hits with intense aromas of candy, lychee, grapefruit, peach, and passionfruit, with a hint of orange rind.
The taste is smooth and creamy, with hidden bitterness and alcohol, delivering sweet stone fruits and citrus. A perfectly balanced DIPA with resinous hops and a subtle lingering sweetness.

Whiplash Soon Never ComesRimming snowy froth over glowing pale orange; juicy tangerine nose with nectarine, floral + dank hints; Orangeade, scallion, twig, cantaloupe rind, lemon sorbet and pine tips ending; soft, smooth, lingering bitterness.

I got all excited to see + smell this because it promised a juicy citrus return to form, even if that comes just by mashing the good old Cascade button.
And it starts out that way before being crushed by all the savoury, diesel sides of Mosaic. I7 doesn’t help by flexing its NeoMex jagged edges. And, despite being almost a month in my fridge, it’s still got lingering hop burn. That's an issue because that's a process fault, not a recipe design misstep.
Settles down to be mostly drinkable - pineapple comes out - but without any nuance to the hopping, and nothing like the mileage that a DIPA should bring.
Disappointing in a new way.
Time to put down Whiplash for a while.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Hazy brownish-golden colour, large white head. Aroma of over-ripe yellow plums and oranges. Sweet flavour, notes of over-ripe fruits, hints of sprucetips and pine needles, noticeable alcohol.
