Crusty white froth that rims over hazy Sunkist orange; orange, mango, and flowers on the nose; tangerine, vague biscuit, hints of nectarine + herb oil, lemon zest, and a spruce end; soft, oily, spritzy.

Amarillo, Eclipse, El Dorado
Amarillo and Eclipse double up for the citrus while El D candy is quiet. But the bigger concern is the maize: “lighter haze from the absence of wheat” suggests Whiplash is continuing to slide away from the true NEIPA faith in pursuit of Mountain/modern IPAs.
The body is thinned out, as intended, but the real crime is the lack of any real complexity, intensity or mystery in the hops. It’s not thick, it’s just plain and one note.
It’s grand, like an amped up Northern Lights, but that beer was engineered for low ABV. This is just lacking.
Another underwhelming new Whiplash.
