West Coast Pale
"Clear and bright with a light honey hue, Sailing Shoes delivers a punch. Dry-hopped with Chinook and Vic Secret. Medium to light-bodied and refreshingly bitter."

Purchased at 1601 Off License in Kinsale, Ireland, brought to my home in Wisconsin. On to the beer:
A “West Coast Pale” according to the label, which means it was either brewed in Galway or styled in the West Irish way. Lol. Anyways, this is almost IPA-like in a pale ale package with its zesty and juicy presence of grapefruit, pleasant aftertaste which doesn’t go bitter. A shame that it came in a smaller 440 ml can.

Bright brass with a ribbon of loose white froth; pineapple, tangerine + flowers on the nose; biscuit, juicy tangerine, a blast of Sunny D, light herb and a speck of pine to end; clean, dry, light.

Vic Secret, Amarillo, Chinook
Looks set to disappoint, with a session-IPA-in-sheep’s-clothing pale colour + unexceptional nose.
The surprise comes when the bright citrus shifts into a light-handed tropical fruit punch kaleidoscope that I’d never expect from heavy hitters like VS + Chinook.
Flavours don’t linger but they shouldn’t at this ABV. Still not West Coast (Caramalt doesn’t show for much, despite the label) but I’m starting to feel curmudgeonly repeating this.
Not challenging, but fresh + easy - nothing wrong with that.
Candied hop fun in a chuggable package.
