Hazy Session IPA

Introducing the third in a series of collaborations with the Society of Beer Drinking Ladies.

You’ll smell fresh lime and grapefruit along with citrus oil and ripe melon. The taste is a big citrus flavour up front followed by a bright fruitiness, touch of bitterness and a herbaceous note. The addition of oats and wheat make it soft and almost creamy on the palate, encouraging another sip. It’ll be your new summer favourite!

Pours an unusual colour similar to gold. Mid-size head. The smell is bitter and a bit sour. The taste also has sour notes with hints of lime. I don’t detect any grapefruit (the label says) but that’s a good thing for me. This was a nice beer for a once in a while craving

473 ml can served cold into a tulip. LCBO purchase for $3.85 CDN. Canned July 9, 2020.

Appearance - Hazy pale golden orange color. Two fingers of white head rests on top and fizzle out within a couple of minutes. Small soapy collar stays behind.

Smell - Citrusy with lime and grapefruit being most prevalent. Lime is really the standout.

Taste - Some grain initially then lime takes over melded in with some grapefruit. Finishes quite grainy as well with assertive bitterness. Lime is nearly overpowering.

Mouthfeel - Medium-light bodied, good fizzy carbonation and finishes dry and a touch chalky. Works well with the the flavors here.

Overall - Decent IPA - heavy on the lime and while refreshing, this isn't the type of beer I'm likely to drink a lot of. So well worth trying, but unlikely to be a regular while it is in stock.

Drinkable, but ordinary. Very gently fogged golden yellow under a moderate head, no lace. Subdued in aroma and taste. Grapefruit and lime not super noteable. A very basic sort of IPA, inoffensive, but common.

473 mL Can. ABV 4%.
Appearance: Pale apricot, Half a finger of off-white head, Low-Medium carbonation, Not hazy.
Aroma: Lime, Slight citrus (generic, no discernable grapefruit), Herbal.
Mouthfeel: Light-Medium body, Low-Medium carbonation, Slightly creamy.
Flavour: Lime, Oaty, Slight citrus (generic, no discernable grapefruit), Pale malt, Slightly herbal hops.
Overall: Lime and Oats don't go well together. Lime overpowers and isn't willing to play with the others. I want to support SOBDL as I can but this is a miss.
