Belgian Black Ale brewed with black cherry and cabernet grape skins
- Rich notes of cherry, plum and cabernet grapes interwoven with hints of leather, spice and vanilla
- The fruit, chocolate and phenolic elements are pronounced due to the dry finish of this beer
- Pair with Belgian Beef Stew (Carbonade Flamande) or Marget de Canard with fruit compote

I think this may be the best beer Henderson has brewed. Usually when they do weirder things, it doesn't go that well. But here they manage to almost nail a dark sour. As my partner said, it tastes like Bellwoods made it.

500ml bottle served cool into a chalice. LCBO purchase for around $14 CDN.

Appearance - Dark brown and cola-like in its appearance. Mahogany hues as it is poured. A finger or so of noisy and fizzy and head that recedes away inside a couple minutes leaving a small dollop of foam in the center of the glass.

Smell - Grapes and cherries for sure... as is advertised, a powdery yeast backdrop and some bits interspersed. Bakery esque outside of the fairly brief but intense grape.

Taste - Lots of grape with cherries initially, then back to grape. A touch minerally. Not bitter but not sweet either. Lacking that bready undercurrent that many dark Belgian ales have. No kiss of brown sugar. Fruity and tasty but one of the most wine like brews I've ever had. The more you get into Xanabrew II, the better it gets.

Mouthfeel - low carbonation, heavy body that doesn't reach sticky but has some depth. Very, very dry in the finish.

Overall - Enjoyable and well executed for what purpose was supposed to be. The feel seems just a bit off and this isn't something I'd to, but with that said, it is interesting and well made. Worth a try especially if you've been a fan of their other heavy hitting Rush beers.
