Got this from peensteen a year ago. Cheers!
From a 500ml bottle into a snifter
APPEARANCE: Pours a three finger, thicker looking, creamy, off-white head with great retention. Perfectly clear maroon red with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a thick, frothy cap and leaves lots of lacing. Splotchy wisp remains leaving lots of lacing down the glass as it empties. Great looking brew.
SMELL: Lots of piney hops, caramel, toffee, red berries and soapy aromas as well. Bold with hints of alcohol in there too.
TASTE: Caramel sweetness, piney hop flavors and some soapy notes with a dose of alcohol at the swallow. Bold flavors with a big finish of caramel and toffee sweetness, red fruits, soapy flavors and some decent piney hop bitterness lingers on the palate.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. A little fizzy on the palate, goes down okay and finishes a bit mouth-coating. Some heat lingers.
OVERALL: Good stuff. Very enjoyable and flavorful. A bit of a soapy character and a slightly fizzy feel stop it from being outstanding, but besides that, there are lots of good things going on here. Well worth checking out and another great beer from Barncat. Thanks again, Pino!
