I'm Glad I can go back now and memorialize. One of my favourite styles, I don't think it needed the maple. Body was fine and it was a tasting favourite.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Vanilla Wheatwine. Also my first wheatwine. Purchase from Durand and served fairly chilled into a tulip.
Appearance - Auburn brew and an aggressive pour yields a finger and a half of light tan head that fizzles out in 30 seconds. Lots up bubbles rising to the surface. Muddled semi hazy brown color.
Smell - Quite sweet, Maple, Vanilla and bourbon mostly, some sharp booziness in there too.
Taste - Plenty of maple, some assertive bourbon flavors. Vanilla rounds out the experience. Almost spicy. Hints of treacle upon repeated sips.
Mouthfeel - Surprisingly fizzy, body is full and has boozy sharp and almost spicy finish. Then dryness overtakes everything.
Overall - Pretty good experience into wheatwine. Knew this would be boozy and full of flavor, but the spiciness was a welcome addition. Worth a try if you can purchase it and may want to keep it in the cellar to mellow it out some.
