Clocking in at 5.5% abs, this one pours a dark chestnut brown color. Thin off-white head dissipates steadily leaving just a thin layer of velvety foam. Slightly cloudy, but still mostly see through. Aroma has notes of nutty, mildly smoked malts, giving off an almost woody aroma.
Taste has notes of white bread with just a very slight smokiness. I never thought I'd say this of a rauchbier, but I want more smoke! Grassy, spicy hops peep through on the back end providing a slight bitter finish. Feel is light and pretty easy drinking with a drier finish.
Overall its a decent beer, but for a rauchbier, I really want more smoke from this.
