a: Black body; served with a small khaki colored head.

s: Something I want to call a lactose tartness? Lots of English stout coming through, but plenty of fresh ground coffee as well.

t: Slightly tart and tangy English stout blends very with the mellow, fresh tasting coffee. Well done.

m: Silky and bit watery.

o: Good stuff, hope I see it again.

Bought a growler this past Wednesday night. Poured into a Murphy's glass. Large two finger brownish tan head that's both rocky and fluffy. Beer looks mostly black with some brown tints towards the bottom of the glass. Smells wonderful for a coffee beer, almost like opening up a fresh bag of whole gourmet coffee beans. Mmmmm...should have had this one for breakfast!!

Taste roasty with significant coffee flavor that seems balanced by other supportive background malts. A tad bitter due to the roast with no real astringency noted. Tastes mostly dry with a nice upfront bitterness.

Overall, a very solid one-off (at least I presume) from Yards. There's significant coffee character in this beer, so if you don't mind that then you'll be sure to like. Otherwise, non-coffee beer lovers should likely stay away. I think this one's rather great and well brewed, so I'll be definitely enjoying the rest of the growler today & tomorrow.

On-tap at Yards.

A - Black stout, thin head, faded soon after the pour.

S - Black coffee, some dark bitter chocolate, roast.

T - Just what you would expect from a "coffee stout". Black coffee, sweetness, roast, dark. The sweetness of the Love Stout balanced the coffee bitterness. A petite girl in our party enjoyed this one quite a bit.

M - Smooth, properly carbonated. Drinkable, despite common belief that stouts are hard to drink.

O - Nice work. Stout, coffee, goodness.
