Enjoyed on tap at Monk's in Philadelphia, they listed Twisted Sister on their menu as a hybrid ale, combining Belgian yeast and American hops. Now, not to go out on a limb here, but it seems like a blend of their Philly Pale Ale and Saison. Why? I dunno. Does it matter? Not at all. It's a charming beer that has a little Belgian character, and a little Pacific northwest hop character - it's fruity, citrusy, and just a touch spicy. It's hazy-golden in color beneath a creamy head of white. It's tasty, refreshing, and most likely just under 5% abv. In a way it seems just like a blend of the two beers, but in a way it also seems like a beer unto itself. I wouldn't go out of my way to find it as I'm perfectly happy with either the Philly Pale or Saison on their own, but I'd certainly have it again if I found it. Worth trying!
