Look - as expected from an imperial stout
Smell - slight licorice, toasty some cocoa
Taste - very similar to the scent but stronger
Feel - medium light carbonation and some what syrupy.
Overall - just ok

On tap:
Pretty much a classic stout, which is not a surprise given the brewer.
Pours black with a tan head, while it lasts, whichbiant too long.
Nose is roasted malt that has a lightly burnt toast note, a bit of instant coffee, and a slight whiff of both smoke and licorice.
The feel is rather thin, with a little sting from somewhere.
The taste is much like the nose, though the burnt toast to char notes seem in a little more represented. A light sweetness cuts through the roasted notes to help keep them from overwhelming the beer.

I was pleased to get to try this along with some other BA's at Sturges Speakeasy in Harrisburg on tap, served in a goblet.
The color is black, opaque with thin band of tan with fine bead and some sticky lace. The smell is great with a blend of roast, nuts and spice with some dried fruit and cocoa for good measure. The feel is deceptive -very smooth for a 10% stout with nice mix of roasty and sweet textures with creamy smooth yeast and semi-dry finish.
I really liked this in that it has a familiar, traditional take on the style which is good since it doesn't have to have a bourbon barrel, coffee or other spice even chocolate to make it tasty. This has some of the aforementioned flavors like cocoa and roasted flavors with some mild fig-like and chewy caramel in the mix with slight alcohol as it warms but nice level of sweetness and bitterness in balance. This is very drinkable for the style I wanted to enjoy a second but it is too easy to consume for a 10%abv stout

A fine example of a well-made, medium bodied, noon-barrel aged RIS.
Can't compare with the barrel aged stuff, but this is a great beer. Full of dark malt, chocolate, and coffee, with a good chew and bite. Rich and coats the mouth well.
A fine beer I'd be happy to have again and would love to see aged in a barrel or on wood chips
