they call this a patersbier, and it is excellent. my first from these guys and hopefully not my last. its a beautiful beer, extremely well made, and of professional overall quality, it has me thirsting for more already. a nice malt bill on this one for being so low alcohol, some fancier pale malted barley here, maybe some sugar addition, maybe a little wheat, its fluffy and flavorful and the right amount of sweet in the middle while staying super dry and sessionable in the finish. fairly hoppy as these go, more than a balancing bitter hop at the end, and a cool earthy herbal tea sort of flavor to the hop profile, really compatible with this belgian yeast, the part of the beer that turns me on most. its got taffy and cotton candy sort of carnival esters, but isnt overdone here and it doesnt take over. it also has a cool vinous element as well as a richness that is unique in beer this light in abv, hints of raisins and crusty bread and white pepper, just an awesome beer overall, super drinkable and clever. id love to drink on some more of their stuff, authentic belgian beers in the states this good are hard to come by!

The brewer calls it a Session/Patersbier and it is light and refreshing with a dry finish. I have to wonder if the "First Order" in its name is a nod to Trappist Singles. The yeast is apparent in both aroma and taste but the flavor is lead by a mild maltiness. Redish in color, little head, no lacing. The slightest hint of hops buttering at 22 IBU, but it is noticeable in such a light beer. Not spectacular, but very nice.
