Hefewumps

This was poured into a weizen glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt ruddy malty orange almost woody brown color with a lasting finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Some foamy/bubbly white sustaining head rides over top decently. The smell has all of the normal attributes of a hefeweizen - sweet banana esters, clove is there, but slightly lighter than expected. Malty wheat. The flavor takes on the same sort of attributes but the wheaty maltiness comes forth a bit more pronounced than the clove and the banana esters, but hey its there. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable feel to it. Carbonation feels good for a hefeweizen. Clove spice rides low. Overall, well, I’d say it’s a good hefeweizen for the most part but not exactly up there with Weihenstephaner’s.
