From the can, it pours a nice very slightly hazy reddish color with a modest head that reduces to a thin layer. In the nose, it is a touch of caramel and some malt. In the mouth, it is the same, a touch of caramel, not overwhelming, thankfully, along with some malt. Good!

This is the only beer the new owners carried over from the previous ones, so there must be something to it, right?

It is a very drinkable red ale that has a good flavor that is about halfway between a pale ale and a brown ale.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a dark hazy burnt orange/amber color with a thin white foamy head that quickly dissipated. Messy lacing. The smell had the biscuit sweet / bready malts up front with a subtle crisp clean toffee/caramel maltiness. Light nuttiness. The taste had the same sweet flavor of the previously mentioned items. Semi-dry nutty aftertaste. Full dry nutty finish. On the palate, this one was about a light to medium in body with a nice sessionable smooth dry feel about it. Overall, in my opinion, this was a nice amber ale.

I was interested to try one of my old favorites after I heard of new ownership at Trout River. This is a miss, it does not taste like the original. Sadly disappointed.

Had high hopes for this beer being a big fly fisher but, it's just not there. Worst Vermont beer I've had. Looks good, taste is ok but overly carbonated! Must drink from a glass!!! It's the only way with this one
