Pours a brown'ish, dark red coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smell is dominated by bready, caramel malt and red berry notes, as well as some hoppy, citrus accents. Taste is an interesting balance of equally strong sweet, bready, caramel malts, red berry notes of redcurrant and strawberry, and bitter, hoppy citrus notes of grapefruit, orange peel and pine, as well as some herbal accents. Finishes bittersweet, with a light bitterness and some caramel malt, red berries and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and light/medium carbonation.

This is a hard one to rate, as it feels almost more like a mix between an American Barleywine and an IPA. Although it is kind of an interesting mix of styles, it ultimately feels neither here not there, despite a decent balance of sweet and bitter notes and never feeling quite too boozy. A nice, interesting beer that just sits between the chairs a little too much.
