A barleywine aged in Boston Harbor Distillery rye barrels. Malty and balanced with an edgy, warming note of rye booziness. Fortis pours a beautiful brown-amber, leaving wine-like legs on the inside of the glass. You'll get notes of cider-forward baking spices, malt sweetness, and rye on the nose, and then it hits the palate big and malty-yet-balanced, with the aftereffect of rye "spiciness" and barrel character lingering after you swallow. As the beer warms and opens up over the course of a glass, you may notice an increase in the rye and barrel coming through to a lingering, warming finish.
