BOSTON DRY STOUT
Cobblestone offers the perfect pub session beer for malt lovers. Pouring deep, dark black with a creamy tan head, Cobblestone is roasty coffee-chocolate on the nose, with dark chocolate and coffee roastiness following to a dry, slightly-bittersweet-chocolate finish.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown nearly black color with a small head of tan colored foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading over time and leaving a good sum of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a cola smell mixed with notes of caramel and brown sugar. Along with these smells are notes of roast and a bit of coffee.
Taste – The taste starts out with a sweeter roasted malt flavor with the sweet being of a mix of brown sugar and some caramel. At the same time there is a rather strong cola taste mixed with a bit of nut and some light coffee. These tastes pretty much take the taste to the end, leaving one with a sweet and somewhat off cola taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium to lighter with a moderate carbonation level. For the sweeter tastes the feel is pretty good, making it easier drinking.
Overall – Pretty poorly executed on for a dry stout. Won’t do this one again.

The head lasts throughout the tasting but leaves only an occasional spot on the glass. Mahogany red-brown color where bright light (barely!) shines through the center of the glass.
The first and primary smell I get is dry cardboard. This is followed by a fainter burnt grain aroma of black patent malt which isn’t coffee or chocolate-like.
The taste is an improvement because the full stout experience is present. It starts with the aforementioned black patent malt. This is followed by dark chocolate and coffee notes. The body is richer than the dry Irish cousins but thinner than most American stout offerings. There’s a background cherry aftertaste.
