A- Pours with a dense yet airy looking head that is eggshell/caramel colored and becomes patchy soon after entering my glass. The coloration is coppery/orange with reddish hues in the background and is very clear. The carbonation appears to lumber its way to the top of the liquid itself, and the bubbles are large in size while they labor upwards. The lacing seems to be good, if not a little modest....lots of strings stick to the side of the glass, and then slowly slide back into the beer. Good looking brew!

S- Relatively mild aromas overall, with mild honey aromas at the start and into the middle, some corn grits, light nuttiness (almonds), caramel/toffee malt sweetness and perhaps some slight bitterness on the finish. Just kind of weak and uninterested for this style.

T- I don't mind the flavors happening here, definite floral honeyed sweetness throughout the tasting experience, caramel/toffee malt to help round things out, a nuttiness that seems somewhat weakened and a mild finish that is sweet, savory and lingers like a honey syrup.

M/O- I find the general texture is oily and the body of this is leaning towards medium. Creamy carbonation and well hidden alcohol contribute to a highly drinkable Honey Brown....nothing wrong with this one....could be that it doesn't quite fit the bill for what I think is a top tier version but I don't mind it one bit. Would drink again and will likely pick up for future use!

355ml can, another local gem delivered straight to my cellar (ok, 'beer room') by my visiting father-in-law. Apparently the little 'Mh' on the label here signifies that this is a contract brew for the Maddhatters nightclub next door to the brewery.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber colour, with two fingers of puffy, rocky, and somewhat fizzy ecru head, which leaves some sudsy archipelago lace around the glass as things quickly dissolve into the ether.

It smells of bready, and lightly grainy caramel malt, a strange earthy nuttiness, sort of stale pale orchard fruit, some wayward son yeastiness, and very subtle leafy, weedy, and dead floral hop bitters. The taste is semi-sweet caramel malt, bitter and oily nutty notes, earthy and kind of dry honey, still bland pome and ethereal citrus fruit, a hint of wet ash, and some still very understated leafy, floral, and musty hoppiness.

The bubbles are fairly fizzy and forward at times, beyond their basic bitch frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and generally smooth, I suppose, with a wee clamminess out there from square one. It finishes off-dry, the nutty and very gently honeyed malt the only lingering concern.

Overall, a pretty wan and meh version of the style, as while there's a fair bit going on all around, that uncertain edginess just makes my tastebuds turtle right the hell up. Like there really is no proper urban downtown in Grande Prairie, there is indeed no 'Bow Chika Wow Wow' factor going on here.
