Poured from the can into a Libbey style pilsner glass.
Beaming bright reddish brown, an almost ruby dark tinge of gem like quality, with darker amber and copper colors. Real nice clarity with visible fine carbonation, and a simple very light khaki colored two finger head. Real beautiful body, one of the best I've seen in a domestic marzen in some time.
Good solid aroma. Clean, but flirts with sticky caramel and fussel notes. Hits a nice herbal hop, and slightly aggressive. Good touch of nut and even a little bit of light milk chocolate too on the nose.
Big bold and delicious palate. A real nice creamy feeling and tasty body that makes the malt bring out real nice milk chocolate tones. Mid palate hits with clean and caramel crispness too, but with a bold hop mixing herbal and pine like qualities. Finishes very brittle dry with a stinging pine and creamy touching caramel that balances out nicely.
This is a bold and aggressive marzen, but it is also very easy drinking. Quite a unique one and certainly worth repeated visits.
