Copenhagen 30/6 2019. 50 cl bottle from Ninkasira Bottleshop, Kbh N. Label with very green bubbles circling the logo from Trzech Kumpli and with the tagline Black IPA + Citrus Zest.
Pour opaque dark brown with a big light brown head. Settles as thin layer of foam covering the surface of the beer and crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma has a strong, lightly roasted malty sweetness meeting the aforementioned citrus zest of Grape fruit and hops. Chocolate, roasted dark malts, tobacco. Pine, citrus. Light nutty notes.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, fat, soft texture.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a slightly stronger citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and citric and lingers for a while.
Nicely balanced but quite civilized black IPA.

330ml bottle as a gift:
Jet black with a thick looking, beige coloured head that's creamy but there's some sediment at the bottom of the glass as well. The nose is a slightly strange one with dark malts & a citrus aroma coming through followed by some light chocolate showing too. A few touches of alcohol sneak in alongside tropical fruits & bitter hops too. The taste is quite hoppy with more tropical fruits in there & the citrus from the nose carrying through as well as some chocolate malts & sugars further on. Its quite a smooth, malty beer with some touches of alcohol sneaking through & a dry, well carbonated finish; a good beer & one I'd happily pick up again.
