Formerly known as "The Unseasonal Lager".
This American amber lager celebrates our grassroots beginning on the Southside. We first brewed this beer in 2005 at our East Point home brewery. It was one of our original and most cherished recipes. It was developed with a simple American grain bill to produce a profile which is light enough for Summer and hearty enough for Winter. This style offers a malty foundation with a distinct color and a hint of caramel from the old-world techniques used in the brewing process. We add noble hops to create balance and a mild spicy bitterness. It was born on the Southside.

Great lager with solid malt backbone slight hops in finish like it should be. Will buy again this well crafted brew. FYI I believe this is now called Southside Lager.

Pours a clear deep amber with abundant effervescent streaming from the bottom. The pour produces 3+ fingers of foamy, somewhat lasting, tan head which recedes to a thick surface cap & collar leaving thin streaks and motes of lace. Aroma is toast, biscuit, grain, caramel, fruity with spice, grass and earth. Taste is toast, caramel, fruity lager yeast and spice. Well ballanced but as someone else observed, very malt forward for the style. Sweet up front but drying in the finish with most of the bitterness in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate-high carbonation; smooth and crisp with a slight, short-lived prickle in the finish.

Arches Unseasonal Lager pours a clear amber with a big, frothy white head. Lots of carbonation. It has a nice light caramel malts and grassy hops nose with a surprising hint of spice. Then comes the pleasant surprise. It has a terrific balance between light sweet malts and mild hops.
Arches Brewing got it right with Unseasonal Lager. You can tell they pay attention to details. For someone looking for a smooth, crisp non-Ale with subtle complexities, I highly recommend Arches Unseasonal Lager.

Appearance: Pours a gently hazy, golden-amber body with an inch-high cap of white foam.
Smell: Toasted grains and biscuit tops, a toffee-like sweet-smelling accent and a ribbon of ripe fruitiness. Subtly spicy, peppery hops.
Taste: Lightly toasty, biscuity maltiness, with touches of crisped, husky grain, touches of sweetish toffee. Softly fruity with a smooth spiciness. Lightly bitter. Drying finish with lingering touches of the oven-toasted biscuit and fruitiness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-light carbonation.
Overall: Acceptable. Many of these year-round lagers follow in the same vein, so, it's nice to have one that presents something a bit different.
