Both my father-in-law and my mother-in-law were in town this past weekend so I decided to pick up an amber since my FIL is a big fan of ambers, and I like them as well. I've heard good things about this particular beer so I figured he and I could give it a shot.
This beer pours a clear, dark amber hue that seems to glow a bit around the edges. Carbonation is light and the head is off-white and creamy, dissipating ultra slowly. 4.25/5 The aroma is well balanced between malty and hoppy with a good amount of pine and citrus rind coming through, both providing a bit of sharpness. The malt brings a sweet, bready, caramelly aroma that allows the hops to play off of. Both are equally intense and work well. 3.75/5 The flavor profile is such that the malt really takes the cake. Bready, malty, and caramel sweetness all dominate throughout the profile, especially as the beer warms. The hops bring a balancing bitterness and a light pine and citrus rind. Bitterness is mild to moderate and lingers lightly after swallowing. 4/5 This is a medium bodied beer that is light in terms of carbonation and is wetting but also a bit drying on the back end with a light, lingering dryness. Carbonation is very light. 4/5 This is a very well craft amber that is very flavorful. It is easily crushable. This is a great beer with or without food, although I highly recommend it with beef quesadillas ;) 4/5
