Cat Tail Pale Ale

Cat Tail pours a darker golden color with no head. There is a balanced weak but slightly hoppy aroma. The taste more balanced, but still a bit of a floral taste came through. Solid body, but a bit weak in the flavor. Overall its nothing special but its solid.

 

 

Arrived in a Libbey pint, golden-amber in color and very clear. Almost no head here, and practically zero in terms of lacing.

The nose is all biscuit malt, with a very minimal hop profile -- deceptive...

This one is *very* pleasant on the first sip, and impresses with a hop profile which is uncommon for an APA. The malt character comes through in a big way on the mid-palate, and fairly dominates this brew. Of course, the bitterness persists and impresses, even more than the aromatic hop signature. This one strikes me as much more in-line with an English pale ale.

A very good and very drinkable American Pale Ale with a definite lean towards the British range. Worth revisiting again and again.

Amber color with little to no head and some lacing and faint prickle. Nice floral hops nose. Attack of mild hops with subtle but tasty floral notes. Dries in the mouth towards the finish. Light body and mouthfeel. In my opinion this is the best beer out of the 4 of theirs that I have had.

A= great pale yellow color poured with a small white head that goes away quickly but the lacing is amazing all over the glass. Great! Among the best I've seen
S= very basic malts and a small hint of malts
T= great but basic! Malts and some hops. What I really noticed was the citrus up front. Really great! Perfect balance
M= great carbonation with a medium body and a smooth finish
D= awesome. Overall the citrus taste is good and smooth. Decent beer for winona. Really enjoyable

It looked fine - nice copper color with lace, decent head. It had a funny smell though, kind of a dirty, weak smell, which was followed by a pretty bland flavor, with a strange sweetness to it. I didn't detect the presence of hops at all. It didn't have much mouthfeel either, just a heavy dullness, almost acidic. I switched to a different beer after 1 glass. At least it wasn't skunky.

Served in a pint glass at the perfect temperature. Bright red in color with a creamy head one-finger in height. Lacing is thorough, and sticks to the side of the glass the whole way down. The aroma is quite pleasant with grapefruit and underlying malt. The taste is like the aroma with a little more sweetness, but not too much. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with nice carbonation and is rather smooth. Overall, this is a very sessionable pale ale that I will make sure to have again if I ever make it back to Wellington's.
