River Town Nut Brown pours a dark brown color with a small barley lacing head. The aroma really isn't there. The taste has a nice solid malty backbone, with a good rich sweet and warm nutty flavor. Tad watery, but still a nice full body, good moderate amount of carbonation. Overall a nice simple solid nut brown.

Light brown or copper in color. Thick frothy head and some light prickle. Malt smoothness dominates the nose. Mild nut attack with some light floral and fruit flavors. Malty finish and clean aftertaste. Light body and somewhat creamy mouthfeel. The highlight of this beer is certainly how "pretty" it looks in the glass.

A: Pours a grayish dark brown with a small white head with poor retention and no lacing.

S: Smells strongly of malts and a decent bit of hops, some toffee and sweet flavors.

T: Malt hop balance covered by a very very strong alcohol flavor..

Overall: It would have been a fine beer but all I can taste is a sharp alcohol...I don't get it.

A= a brown color yet see through. Decent head and great lacing. Ok but not impressive
S= very malty up from toasted. That's about it
T= water... not what I would expect from this brew. The color was there but what was with the taste? Kinda lost
M= good carbonation and body but nothing great
D= high but its to basic... overall its to plain for me. The waitress told me full bodied and flavorful but it was watery and empty... not great

Pours a a nice dark brown, very opaque, with a decent head. There isn't much smell to it. The flavor caught me off guard at first, kind of sweet, very untypical beer flavor. I liked it better as I finished the glass though. This brew pub is rather inconsistent, but I thought this was an okay ale, as opposed to a bad one, which I have also had here.

Poured a slightly hazy medium-dark brown in color, topped with a two-fingered pale tan head and notable lacing. Seems opaque to the naked eye, it is actually nearly brilliant when held to the light (and this took some doing, as the bar was rather dimly lit tonight!) Nose is rich and malty, striking me as on-style, but also seems to presage a beer that will be a bit thin. Carbonation is moderate to firm. Bitter, bittersweet and tangy on the first sip, with mild fruity highlights. It's frankly bitterer than I'd expected but is a switch from the many overly-sweet nut browns I've encountered. The body does reflect my suspicions and seems a bit thin, but it's acceptable as the mouthfeel and drinkability do not suffer from this. In fact, this is quite soft on the palate (nitro?) and sessionable. Lightly sweet and nutty (and lightly buttery as well), River Town Nut Brown is an average-to-good rendition of the English Brown / Nut Brown Ale style. I'll be back to try the rest of Chris's offerings soon!
