Pours a dark, cola-brown in color (black to the eye), with a slim off-white head and minimal lacing. Looks pretty average.

Nose is malty, semi-sweet, and less expressive than I'd hoped. As this was served rather cold I let it warm up a little for the nose to 'open up', allowing lighter coffee and chocolate notes to emerge.

Sweetish and tangy on the first sip, but not-quite sour. Very mild bitterness throughout this one, along with just a hint of smoke. According to the menu description there's 10% rolled oats in this one, but it doesn't have as much 'oomph' as I've come to expect from an Oatmeal Stout, nor does it have the body. Still, it's got a nice flavor: sweet/tangy, lightly smokey, lighter coffee notes...

Lighter in body, with a mouthfeel that strikes me as a little subpar. Of course, this is quite drinkable and is not a bad beer overall.

Altogether this is a somewhat average offering, but it's hard to pass up after bowling a few games, and it also pairs pretty well with Barbecue (and this place ain't too shabby in that department : )

Black in color with faint white head and mild lacing. Some prickle. Coffee on the nose. Mild coffee and smoke attack. I believe that there is some oatmeal in this based on some context clues in the smell, taste and mouthfeel. The coffee and smoke are really too strong for me to say for sure on the oatmeal though. The smoke is the dominant characteristic followed by the coffee. The smoke stays well through the finish and into the aftertaste.

A: Has a decent brown head on top of a grayish brown body with lots of carbonation, looks like soda...

S: Faint smell with hints of chocolate and coffee.

T: Tastes very weak...quotes from those around me who sampled it..."It tastes like bubbles"..."It tastes like a cigarette"...in reality it was very plain and watery with a small finish of coffee and a bit of chocolate.

Overall: Don't try. Get a BMC

Having a brew pub in one's home town that serves bad beer is like, well, having a brew pub in one's home town that serves bad beer. Really, what could be more disappointing? When served this beer for the 2nd or 3rd time in 5 years (I always am willing to give them another shot), there's a brief moment where you think they ught have figured it out. I looked like a glass of Stout at first glance. But then I noticed the soap-suds look of the foam. There was no perceptible smell, except that of the detergent they use to clean the glasses. On the first sip, I awaited something, anything, but nothing came. No malt or sweetness or anything. The mouthfeel was like water, absolutely no body at all.. I drank it, because it helped wash down the excellent cheeseburger I was served at the same time, but I didn't enjoy it, and that's the worst sin a beer can commit.
