DATE: December 25, 2018... OCCASION: awaiting Jer and Bob for the Christmas celebration to begin in earnest... GLASSWARE: Liberty Ale House pint... pours an off-brown (?!),, chocolate milkish opaque body that offers an off-white halo of head with random bubbles--this is fresh, and odd... cardamom and cinnamon are front and center, making this a Christmas candle of an offering--with the malts suggesting oats and toasted barley, evoking cereal thoughts akin to Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Apple Jax... its first sip is smooth, on the thin side, and lingering mildly with its sweetness... it feels bigger at the throat, almost like a lager, but it also offers a mild buzz at the teeth to appreciate as an ale.... a citric/herbal conflict wages itself to an attrition at the tastebuds of the drinker--a mock-epic way of saying this seems a bit forced and not an immediate pleasure... it does have a reasonable ABV that allows it to be an all-day sipper to share with the brothers.... the cinnamon and cardamom are strong in the flavor profile, with secondary notes of toasted oats... really wanted to like this one, and hoping Jer and Bob do, but this will be a pit-stop to the Rockin Red Rye we uncap later...
