A deep golden strong lager brewed using a traditional decoction mash where a portion of the grain bill is boiled and added back to the main mash. Longer aging makes this beer exceptionally smooth.

Dark copper color with lighter tangerine highlights and a white bubbly head, albeit rather thin.
Sweet malty aroma with some biscuity grain notes as well. Light floral notes from the hops in the background. First taste is a notable malt forward beer with a toasted and cereal grain flavors. Hops provide some balance with a noble-like character but nothing that suggests it's too hoppy for the style.
Mouthfeel is clean and crisp with a medium body feel. Overall a tasty Maibock and another solid brew from the Moat. Well balanced with just the right amount of hops to keep the malt in check.

Served in a pint glass, this was a golden brown color with a small head. Aroma was fairly unexciting. Sweet grain, a little floral. Fortunately it tasted better than it smelled. Nice malt presence, just a little on the sweet side. Very enjoyable. I'd try it again.

Fed the alligators some goat with this one on 2/24/2007. 10.5-oz. tumbler at the Barley Pub in beautiful downtown Dover.
Even mattress of 1/8-inch china white foam to start with just a whisper of stick going down, down, down. Very clear mahogany hue, almost dead in its stillness, with just a few striations percolating here and there. Some kind of weirdly interesting Cajun spice on the nose with a ghost of caramel malt happening; some tiramisu sweetness mixes things up a bit. Nice, grainy feel on the mouth with a caramel candy apple chewiness; somewhat velvety on the palate.
One of the best Ive had from Moat Mountain, though I generally like most of their offerings.

Pours a dark amber, topped with a two finger off-white or light tan head, leaves partial webs of lacing.
Clean malty - bread and caramel and floral aroma.
Fruity taste under all that caramel, very malty, herbal note, some flowers too.
Medium bodied, very smooth.

Clear light amber. no head. smells of sweet caramel and herbal and vegetal hops. Pretty simple but good mix of light caramel flavor and fresh vegetal hops with a hint of sulfur. Carbonation is a touch harsh even though it is not all that bubbly. Boring in the finish. Overall nice even though feel is not great.

Ok....another Maibock to try! Life is good!! Has a lovely, medium copper hue, clear body, and a thin, fine white head, with just a smidge o' lace. Nose is semi-sweet, with some bready malt, and a pleasant caramel aspect. Body was medium, and it was creamy/bubbly on the tongue, without being prickly and rough. Flavor hits you at the kickoff with caramel, malty sweetness, and bready/toasty notes. A healthy malt backbone lies in this one. A slight floral, hop finish rounds things out. A nice interpretation of a style I love.... Zum Wohl!!
