Moat IPA in a 22oz can was a bit above average IPA in my mind. Not too bitter at all but just enough to remind you that its and IPA. On tap at the brewery its just delicious, they pair it well there too. My mother in law and I got the 6 sampler there and we like them all but the uber coffee flavored stout. Thumbs up on teh IPA we bought 4 cans on our way out and i buried them in one sitting. nice easy drinking

i like ipa. i really like ipa. in fact, i think we are living in the golden age of beer and it's because of american ipa's.
that said, ipswich ipa is what i judge all others by. moat's is not as bitter or hoppy, but there's still plenty to like here.
i am at moat at least 2 or 3 weekends a month. so i drink this a lot.

Poured a medium copper hue with a one finger creamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a light resiny hop aroma and a grainy malt.
The taste consisted of a citrus and pine elements balanced by a doughy malt. Some residual peppery hop.
The mouthfeel was of average fullness with a dry finish.
Overall a very enjoyabe IPA. The subtle hops makes this beer stand out.

I tried this for the first time last weekend on draft at Moat.
A---Golden and polished with a medium white head.
S---Slight citrus and floral hop aroma.
T---Starts off malty with smooth bitterness and it finishing with a slight grapefruit hop flavor.
M---Medium bodied.
D---It was a nice surprise to find this on draft. Reminded me of an English ipa fermented clean with little fruitiness and a cascade flavor addition.

Served up amber with a thin, white, persistant head.
Mild fruit and hops in the nose. Slightly chaulky and juicy malt.
Bitter on the pallet, smooth and lingering but not drying.
Sweet malt keeps the crisp signature of a well done IPA out of the picture.
Hop flavor and aroma lacking.
Finishes malty and bitter. Cuts through the cajun fries well.
Bigger than Iron Mike's Pale ale, but not really in the realm of an IPA.
Dry it up and add more hops, please... Lots more.
