A:
Pours a cascading, crystal clear light copper color with two solid fingers of thick cream-colored head. Good retention; doily-like lacing. (4.5)
S:
Toasty malts with slight sweetness/spice. (4)
T:
Follows the nose with a decent dose of sweetness. Toasty malt, caramelized sweetness, clean sugar, some light herbal hops. (4)
M:
Medium body with creamy carbonation and a clean, sweet finish. (4.25)
O:
Nice take on a maibock.
It is beautiful in the glass. Just lovely. The aroma is noticing with rich layers of malt (from toasty to oily sweet to zesty grains). It tastes good as well as far as that goes. It is about what your expect based on the rest: a good, well-made German lager that drinks itself and at a certain time and place can be an amazing beer. It was too sweet for me and I liked it less because of it, however it has a clean enough sugary character that it never made me shudder.
Another solid beer from these guys! (3.75)
