July 2017: Cask from the wood, 1/3 pint, at SPBW 1st National Woodfest, Castleford. Golden colour, white head. Woody and slightly citrussy aroma. Woody and citrussy flavour too, slightly salty. Dry bitter finish.

From a 330ml can.
L: Beautiful pale amber colour with a faint haze and a few streams of bubbles. One finger of white, foamy head reduces to a 2mm cap. Empty glass has sheets of lacing.
S: The sweet malt base comes through pretty strongly alongside a little hoppy bite.
T: Grassy, spicy hops with a citrus edge. Good, strong level of bitterness.
F: Medium body. Smooth and refreshing. Moderate carbonation.
O: Very drinkable, modern, hoppy English pale ale. The 6.3% ABV is nicely hidden.

Pours dark clear honey coloured into a glass from a can. Head is white, two-three fingers and frothy but falls to white surface froth after a while.
Aroma is very aromatic, hoppy and spicy, along with a good helping of blood orange, pine and red apple. It comes across like a very hoppy IPA - Amber ale hybrid; that transition between the two happening right there in the nose.
The flavour is very piney, hoppy and fresh with more of that spicy red apple coming through straightaway. It has a solid earthiness which permeates the whole beer yet enough citrus to balance everything out and keep it moreish.
It's on the medium side of light with decent carbonation and a dry finish.
This is a great fresh IPA with lots of red ale additions; certainly a great sessionable ale to be drinking around the fire.
