The "Mamape" or never ending wave at Chicama Peru inspired this bold and decadent chocolate stout who's flavour linger almost as long as riding this wave.
This bold chocolate stout begins with a classic oatmeal stout base which has large quantites of organic Peruvian cacao nibs layered through mash, boil and fermentation to bring bold and decadent chocolate notes that linger persistently on your palate

This was purchased at The Brewery, Bells Beach Brewing's Geelong taproom, in September 2024. It was drunk in January 2025.
L: The beer is black with garnet highlights and a thin but fluffy, coffee-coloured head. No carbonation can be seen through the darkness of the beer.
S: The nose is chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, hazlenut and vanilla. Some berry notes round out the back end.
T: The taste profile is chocolate milk with coffee, berries and cola over a dark malt base. I say it all the time but I've never heard of anyone else picking up cola in their stouts and porters other than Johnny from YouTube's Craft Beer Channel. Perhaps he and I are equally wrong... The bitterness is mild, and the finish is dry. After swallowing, there's a gap before the bitterness returns to the sides of the tongue. There's a coffee note to that bitterness, which is quite pleasant. The chocolate taste fades as the beer warms, replaced with a warm coffee roastiness.
M: The beer is full and thick. Carbonation is minimal. It all suits the beer well. There's a stickiness to the beer that sees my lips and moustache sticking together by the halfway mark of the beer.
O: This is a nice stout. Bells Beach Brewing do most of their beers very well, and this one is no exception.
Cheers!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
