5% ABV. Purchased at a bottle shop in Nice, France. Notes from Spring 2016.
33cl brown glass bottle with an unbranded silver pry-off crown cap. Christmasy label art depicting snowflakes and mountains.
HEAD: White colour. Nice thick consistency. Soft enough. Retention is nice - ~4 minutes. Leaves no lacing as it recedes.
BODY: Hazy turbid pale yellow-orange. No yeast, lees, or sediment is visible within.
For a beer billed as a blonde, it looks an awful lot like a witbier. Clearly unfiltered.
AROMA: Vague citrus - maybe lemon peel. Faint spice - not clove per se, but coriander, sure. Subtly estery ale yeast. Clean barley. Maybe some wheat.
Aromatic intensity is average. Suggests an unfiltered vitaminy brew with a shallow depth of flavour and not much intricacy.
TASTE: Blonde malts, wheat, lemon peel, faint spice, lemon acidity. Balanced but simple and plain. Shallow depth of flavour.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, light to medium-bodied, somewhat refreshing, overcarbonated, slightly acidic, approachable.
OVERALL: There's not an ideal harmony of texture and taste here, but the former suits the latter decently enough. I don't dislike it, but it leaves a lot to be desired.
