Fairly bitter, with a great creamy head and subtle caramel scent, this red/amber ale from microbrewery La Brasserie du Pépère really surprised me. What I liked most was the hint of chestnut flavor stemming from locally harvested Pyrénéean chestnut honey. I can't wait to try more of their beers when I get the chance to visit the region again.
