Black Eagle Brewery

it took us a minute to find this place, tucked in the back corner of a large casino bar, you could never know this place was here. its neat inside, kind of a log cabin feel to it, lots of wood and a long bar with windows through to the tanks behind it. its a small space, mellow on a weeknight, some neons create a weird light in here, but the space is cool, humble, and a perfect little taproom for the beers. i was surprised to see some pretty ambitious beers on their list, a nordic pale ale with kveik yeast, a beer with date and honey, as well as a mocha porter, which might have been their best. they all seemed a little homebrewy to me, but only the pils was downright bad. i had a good time tasting through the lineup and catching up with an old friend, no loud music or televisions blaring in here at all, so a good space for that. the service was great, dude was generous with the samples and stoked on the beers, made the place very welcoming. i think the beer has a little bit of growing up to do, but the place is nice, the folks seem cool, and im sure its just a matter of time. neat to see the montana brewing scene in full boom mode right now!
