It is as advertised, a Wild Rice Beer. No shortage of Wild Rice taste. If you like Wild Rice, you'll love this beer.

the potential here is so high, i was disappointed by the end result. my first beer from these guys sounds so promising. an imperial type porter with wild rice. how can that not be amazing? well, its not bad, but its far from amazing. for one, its just too light. looks and smells and tastes and feels more like a brown ale than a porter, it lacks the black color, the depth of the dark roasted barley, and the feel of a beer thats supposed to be sort of luxurious and big. i also dont think the rice is used real well. i hardly taste it, and the starch i would have expected it to provide in thickening the mouthfeel really isnt there, the beer is thin and clearish, where is the rice aspect? i guess there is a nice earthy quality about it and some bitterness, so its not entirely invisible, but it could sure stand to be more prominent to make this a more unique brew. if they called it a brown ale i would rate it more favorably, there is a good dry chocolate malt flavor to this, and some nutty toasted grain as well, bready, like a bran muffin or something. really lacks the roasted element though, so it falls short on the porter scale for me. some tweaks and this could be a real winner, but for now it seems beyond the skill of the brewer, or perhaps beyond the understanding of the dude who writes the recipes. i hope they keep working on it though, this could be amazing...
